We solved this issue ourselves by:
- Forwarding incoming calls to the Twilio number
- Set up a verified caller ID with your own number
Done :)

Mike Smid how did you get the calls to be forwarded to the Twilio number?

Mike Smid, I would like to know this as well. How did you get the calls to be forwarded to the Twilio number?
M
Mike Smid
Grant Cool Well, we buy our phone numbers on Avoxi (you can get basically any regional and national number in the world) and you can set up forwarding from their system. If you have a mobile or existing number, it is worth looking to see if it can be ported to a platform like Avoxi (there are many similar platforms out there) or to ask your provider if numbers can be forwarded to a specific number.

Karla Fiscus I just answered Grant, see reply.

If GHL is going to be a voip phone company they have to make it easy to transfer existing numbers over. Otherwise users all have to pay for two phone sytems in order to you use GHL's phone system. That's currently how it is, and it is idiotic. Everybody is so patient here. I don't even know why my clients want GHL, it's a walled-garden, and I can't stand walled-gardens

John Mecham Then build your own app 😅 I offered the solution above.

Mike Smid I acknowledged your solution that everybody is already aware of... which is to pay double for every minute. That's not what people want, including GHL. They are just in the process of trying to be all things to all people... not an easy to thing to do.
One of those things that GHL is going to do is replace your VoIP provider. They are very close to being able to do that for most small businesses. Once they release the IVR for softphones in the next couple of months, they will satisfy 90% of the VoIP needs for 90% of small businesses. Which is pretty dang cool. Probably still won't be able to easily "conferrence call" but that falls into the 10% that they just can't do.
We just have to be really, really patient until GHL gets around to making the VoIP offering more robust including creating an easy process to transfer phone numbers.. An extremely simple process that is intentionally made difficult by many phone companies. Not an easy nut to crack.
But 90% of what you need in order to avoid the double charge, is going to be enough for a lot of people to switch... the only real obstacle will be transferring the phone number(s). Easily the next most important thing for GHL to work on as it relates to their VoIP offering.
When this is complete... We can tell our customers that we can "easily" save them x% on their phone bills. Right now, we have tell them we can do it, but it won't be easy. : )

I'd like this feature, too.
And for those who want to use the LC phone as a Business Number, to be forwarded to a personal number: https://ideas.gohighlevel.com/lcphonesystem/p/business-phone-blocked-from-being-lctwilio-number

I would love the ability to take an existing client phone number and have it seamlessly integrate with a sub account. An example would be a client that has an established 800 number and when a text our automated call goes out it displays the existing number and when a reply comes back it uses that same number.

If we integated a dedicated phone system such as GoToConnect, it would do this. We could use any phone number you liked and it would open up a lot of routing options:https://ideas.gohighlevel.com/ideas/HIGHLVL-I-2437
