Hi,
One major limitation in GHL Communities (especially compared to competitors) is the lack of a global chat setting to control private messaging between members.
The core purpose of a community is to encourage public interaction: members sharing posts, engaging in discussions, and learning together as a group. However, what I’m currently experiencing is the opposite.
Because there is no option to limit or disable private chats, most interactions are moving into private conversations. As a result, public engagement inside the community has dropped significantly, and of course, even business results.
There’s also another critical issue: I’ve received reports that other coaches are privately messaging members within my community and offering their own services.
This creates a situation very similar to what happens in Facebook groups and earlier in Skool: spam, client poaching, and loss of control over the environment.
So basically it was recreated the problem that pushed people away from Facebook group: spam and farming inside the groups.
Platforms like Kajabi and Skool already address this with a simple setting that allows community owners to enable or disable private messaging between members.
Allowing coaches to decide which kind of interactions is possible to have inside the communities (between members; members after X levels; admins-members only; none of them) in GHL would IMO:
  • Protect community integrity
  • Increase public engagement
  • Prevent unwanted solicitation and spam
  • Give coaches more control over their ecosystem (and better business results)
I was looking on how to solve this problem, and saw that many other people are facing the same issue. Because of course it allows client poaching and other forms of disservice.
Furthermore, talking with other coaches, they told me they use a mix of GHL backbone and Skool Communities, but I think this is not the all-in-one system we are all looking for I guess.
Is this something that could be implemented?
Thanks so much in advance 🙏🏻
