We have a community in Discord where our live chats occur. GHL communities are really more of a forum format. Would be great to have a live chat capability like a Discord, even if it was one channel in a group to provide that fast interaction and notification of a Discord.

For those of you saying it is an essential function, do you have a video demonstration of what it would look like that is different from the current threaded posts channel format? The concept was discussed again this week in the Communities town hall, it seems to me that the developers aren't imagining what you are asking for. They think the current post-and-comments format is good (I tend to agree but maybe I don't have the perspective of your experiences, for me a Discord thread gets confusing very fast!). The suggestion here on the Ideas Board has plenty of votes; but, in what way would the message board channel be different than any other channel? What would you want it to do? How would it behave?

Keith Besherse If you don’t want it, we could always ask the devs to have a toggle to switch it off. But as for us, we need this. Circle has this, Karabo has it, Whop has it, Discord has it. WhatsApp is all about it. Its import we have it too, to stay competitive and also to have more community engagement. Community churn is a real thing. And it’s mainly caused by slow engagement which live chat fixes

Yes, every function and feature should have a toggle in the Settings so Admin (but not Moderator) can activate:inactivate as appropriate for the purpose of that particular group.

Hi Timmy Timmy, I'd love to see a video demonstration. That is exactly what the developers need to understand what is being requested here. In the town hall when it was discussed there was no one attending who could describe exactly what people are asking for.

500 plus votes and product team has mentioned it coming in another quarter during town hallw. Live chat still isn't showing as "in progress," so what's the newest update on status? This is a strong driver of engagement in the communities!

Please do this feature! We really need to be able to have a live community chat between all members of that group for our course training (desktop and mobile). We have to temporarily use telegram but can't monitor it with member access. Please make this live chat feature a thing inside the community groups!

Hide the Member list, Chat, and Invite Members buttons.
I am using CSS in Communities to hide functions that should be an option for the group admin to turn on or off depending on the purpose and culture of the community group.
We need a toggle in Settings where the group admin can turn off or on those features - Invite Members button, Chat, and Members.
