Improve search in communities

Currently the search in Communities is very limited and doesn't add much value. It seems to only be doing an exact word search (and a broken flexible search). For it to be useful it needs to be more flexible to surface more related posts.
Bonus points if it could return posts that have the same intent of the search phrase.
some examples:
* Search for the word "discuss" does not find posts with the word "discussion".
* Searching for the word "beach" does not find "beaches".
* Search for the word "beaches", it finds "beach".
* I have a post including the phrase "flawless finish".
- (intentional spelling mistake). Search for "flawlesses finishes" finds both words "flawless" and "finish".
- Search for "flawles" does not find anything.
- Search for "flawles finishes" finds "finish".
It seems like when searching for plural terms, it will find singular terms. But searching for singular terms will not find plural terms.
