Simply assigning Trigger Links with a URL you can use externally to GHL.
For example, in Kartra, i use trigger/tracking links for different lead sources, so I can track which tracking link is getting the most click and resulting in the most goals.
For example, if I have a webinar that I'm wanting to promote. I could create a separate tracking link for YouTube, LinkedIn, FB groups, FB Profile, FB Personal, Instagra, Ticktok, etc. And be able to analyse the data for which source resulting in the most sign up and then went on to purchase the offer.
Then you can actually tag the leads based on their source for either further data and segmentation.
These are supper powerful and I am happy to help with this development.

Agreed I was hoping to be able to use the API to create a tracking link URL specific to a contact that I could then use in external communications.

Yes. We need this. Also a way to COPY the link ID to place it into a template a bit easier. ALso give us the ability to SEARCH by ID to make QAing a bit easier

Tracking links as a built in feature would be a nice addition. Having a tracking script you can add to external pages/links in the head is really what I miss from other systems.
