Ummm…check this. As I experienced it (some time ago), if you enable email then email becomes primary. It seemed as though it no longer triggered the SMS response. So, your follow-up would be via email instead of text.
Requiring a mobile phone was a feature. We were trying to transfer to SMS. (But email would work too, just not as well).
It may be that Live Chat (once it is working) will resolve this issue.
Core Platform, the answer to this suggestion might simply be a couple updates to the Chat Widget help docs.

Yes please. A no mobile setting is very much needed.

Optional is a must no B2B lead will hand over their cell# on first contact

Same in Netherlands, many clients don't want phonenr untill they can send with whatsapp. Phone nr in webchat form should be optional.

Agree 100%. Many of my clients don't use mobile

Yes, here in Germany as well. Giving a phone number is a rather private thing, E-Mail address being mandatory would be a much better feature and should be quick to implete, right? Just make them both optional with a mandatory option

Totally agree - i love the chat widget, but it's useless here in Mexico as LC/Twilio does not support mobile numbers here.
