Currently, there is a patchwork workaround for using Custom Values in a custom html email. When building a new email and choosing the 'HTML Import' Option, Custom Values can only be used by implementing a workaround using CSS and JS. It is not overly complicated, but it would make building emails much more flexible and customizable, and add a bit more power to what you are able to do with emails directly in the platform.
