Preservation of Selection Order for Carousel Media Uploads
B
Bruno Aguiar Gilberti
Summary
Currently, when selecting multiple images from the Media Library to create a carousel post in the Social Planner, the assets are not uploaded in the order they were selected. Instead, they appear in a shuffled or randomized sequence, forcing the user to manually re-order them every time.
Steps to Reproduce
Open the Social Planner and create a new post.
Select a social account that supports carousels (e.g., Instagram or LinkedIn).
Click to add media and open the Media Library.
Select five images in a specific sequence (e.g., Image_1, Image_2, Image_3, Image_4, Image_5).
Click "Add Media" to bring them into the Social Planner composer.
Observed Behavior
The images appear in the post composer in a shuffled order (e.g., 3, 5, 1, 4, 2). This happens regardless of naming conventions (alphanumeric) or file size. The system does not seem to respect the manual "selection click" order or the file metadata.
Expected Behavior
The Social Planner should maintain the "Selection Index." If a user clicks Image A first and Image B second, Image A should occupy the first slot in the carousel and Image B should occupy the second.
Impact
Efficiency: For creators using 5–10 slide carousels, manual re-ordering is a repetitive, low-value task.
User Experience: If a user has already labeled files to follow a narrative, the current shuffling logic creates unnecessary friction and a feeling of "broken" UI.
