Enhanced Calendar View: Staff Availability Display for Service-Based Businesses
S
Scott Bartnick
Summary of the Request:
Current Issue:
A client is frustrated because they cannot easily see their staff’s availability in GHL’s calendar. Their previous system (VisiBooks) allowed them to see a clear availability view for all service providers.
Requested Feature:
When viewing the calendar, users should be able to see the availability of all staff members at a glance.
This should apply across different services so users can quickly select and book an available time slot.
It should work similarly to VisiBooks, where the user can click on an available slot and book instantly.
Why It’s Important:
Clients are refusing to use GHL because they are accustomed to a more visual availability system in their old booking software.
They need a faster, more intuitive scheduling experience to avoid frustration and improve adoption.
Proposed Implementation:
Add a real-time availability view that shows:
All staff members and their open slots in one view.
The ability to filter by service type and see availability instantly.
A one-click booking experience where users select an available slot and proceed to book.
Use Case Example:
A salon, spa, or medical practice with multiple providers wants to quickly check staff availability and book appointments without manually searching each provider's calendar.
Instead of navigating multiple views, they want a single screen where they can immediately see and book open time slots.

Service V2 Calendar: Visual Staff Availability and Greyed-Out Unavailable Hours
A
Adam Pilakis
From an internal planning perspective, it is difficult to quickly assess team coverage for any given day using the current Service Calendar V2 layout.
Two improvements would make a significant difference:
A clear indicator of which staff members are working on a given day, visible at a glance without opening individual profiles or settings.
Time slots outside of a staff member's working hours should be visually greyed out when their calendar is displayed. This makes gaps and availability immediately obvious.
These are simple visual changes but they have a meaningful impact on daily scheduling decisions, especially for businesses with multiple team members who work different hours or rotating rosters. Staff can quickly identify coverage gaps and make smarter booking decisions without second-guessing availability.
