Cancelled Booking Still Sending Reminders

When an appointment status is changed to cancelled, a notification is sent out to the client, however the client still receives reminders about their "upcoming appointment".
These are not user-created workflows, they are the newer automated reminders set in the calendar notifications module. Because of this, I am not able to see where the bug may be.
(The reminders are still sent even if the appointment is deleted, last resort. Reminders continue until the originally scheduled date and time is reached.)
Can you guys fast track a fix for this? Thank you for all you do.
