Introduce a calendar type that is specifically designed for table booking. A finite number of covers is configured in the calendar and the number of people the booking is for is requested as standard, perhaps with an option to have max number for calendar bookings and a message to contact the venue directly if the requested booking size exceeds this maximum

Is this ever going to happen? I've seen features with less activity get implemented before. This is pretty big and would be very helpful. Even something basic for starters

If a function for "resource usage" was created, litterally any usecase for restaurants would be possible. Having worked with several restaurant, implemented several different booking systems and tried out 10+ booking systems, the only thing setting the $500/month systems from $50/month ones is the possibility to manage resources. (For example: My restaurant partner has twenty 4-person tables. As someone tries to book for 5-8 people, the system needs to reserve 2 resources/tables.) The booking system then becomes able to handle everything and can be a total gamechanger for us developers and the restaurants.

I'm doing my best to use the current options under calendars to support a client's need to have Restaurant Table Booking functionality. But the current options doing work well. Please look to provide a calendar that is not connected with a person, and allows for multiple bookings pers slot, and provides ability to clearly indicated number of People on the booking, with the backend allowing for a max number of people within a slots.
This would be massive game changer!!!

Michael Iwuajoku I use the Event Calendar type. I have 60 minute slots, with max 100 people per slot. This is a fairly clumsy way of doing table bookings, but it kind of works. I just hope that we can get a new calendar type that is better suited to the table booking use case.
