This is a basic group management control, and it’s missing.

Right now, any member can privately message any other member, and admins can’t turn that off. That’s a privacy risk in a health coaching group, and it confuses members about where to reach our coaches.

We hid the Chat button with custom CSS. It still shows in the mobile app, and members can still send messages. A cosmetic workaround isn’t enough when the feature itself can’t be turned off.

What we need:

An admin toggle to disable member-to-member chat, per group and for the whole location

It must work in the mobile app as well as web

It must block messages on the backend, not just hide the button

Optionally, chat limited to admins or coaches only

Need to disable! BIG problem for anyone in the medical space. Cannot allow members to have access to any other members

Also have the option to enable when a member reaches a specific level

Yes, need the option to disable DM's, so that users/members aren't able to send spam via DM without the admin knowing until a complaint is shared.

We need the ability to disable DM chats. Not only is this person sending messages in a community I am the admin of, he is also able to block me so that I can't ban him from the group. How are we supposed to monitor the group if people can slide in and hide from the admins?

Yes, need this. Until it's implemented, the community is not legal to use in my country.
