Communities have come a long way but the basic foundations really aren’t in place yet before all the extra ‘nice to haves’ are actioned.
Some basic logistical hurdles I experienced when signing up as a member to my community:
- Why is the payment process not the same as paying for a course? One-click and payment pops up.
- Why do members add a photo BEFORE payment!? This is SUCH a blocker and totally unnecessary.
- I accidentally clicked off the payment module when it popped up then got completely lost in the page it sent me to - it was a blank dashboard with no way to navigate back to the screen I was on and complete the payment. I went to home and nothing. I clicked subscriptions, nothing and no way to set up a new one. I went to communities and it said I wasn’t part of one but didn’t show one to sign up to! This is far too complicated and error-prone. Lost me a sale in a real-world scenario and created a very frustrated customer.
- Ability to change username slug in account dashboard
- If not paid (as in point 3) why do new users appear to have an account and can see ‘invoices’ ‘contracts’ etc. in the dashboard area when navigating around? Very odd.
Please advise when these issues will be resolved as I am unwilling to offer this as a membership community in its current state.
I feel like communities could be great but these inefficiencies add friction to the sign-up and payment process.
