🚨 Stop Invoice Status Updates from Ejecting Contacts from Workflows
D
Dante Z.
Problem:
When you build an automation triggered by "Invoice Sent" or "Invoice Viewed," any subsequent invoice status change (like the contact viewing it again) kicks the contact out of the workflow entirely.
This breaks critical use cases like:
âś… Automated reminders before due dates
âś… Follow-up sequences for overdue invoices
âś… Opportunity paths based on invoice status
Why This Matters:
You can't reliably automate invoice follow-ups, or if an invoice is abandoned because contacts get removed from workflows the moment they interact with the invoice again. This defeats the purpose of using workflow automation for invoices.
Proposed Solution:
Invoice status updates should update workflow conditions without removing contacts from active workflows. Let the workflow designer control when contacts exit—not automatic ejection on every status change.

Note: Critical Error When a workflow trigger is "Invoice Viewed" - if the contact views the invoice several times it will enter the workflow multiple times even if the "multiple opportunity setting is turned off at the workflow level"
