You can only manually do it right now, which i'd like to streamline it without spending all day figuring out Stripe's API. You can create a one-time stripe charge through automations but not subscription

Agreed. I don't even use Stripe, I would just like the ability to be able to start, schedule, end, or pause a subscription via Automations and the API.
