Add Secondary Contact Info to Email

Olivia Schmid
Trying to add in the name of a secondary contact on an opportunity in a greeting.
Would love for emails go to these two ways:
- Two contacts listed
ex. Hi CONTACT and SECONDARY CONTACT,
- One contact listed
ex. Hi CONTACT,
I created a custom field for the second contact on the opportunity and can get that field to show up when populated, but the issue is the two spaces and the word "and". Looking for something like an IF/ELSE liquid code solution.
Any insight on this?

I am a Realtor, so my team's contacts/clients are individuals or couples. As Opportunities move from Pipeline Stage to Stage, we are using workflows to automatically send email templates to contacts associated with the Opportunity, many of which are husband and wife.
We would love for the system to detect whether there is one or two contacts associated with an Opportunity, then put the appropriate names into the emails.
-----
Example 1:
Our clients are a couple named Joe and Sue Smith.
Joe = Primary contact on the Opportunity
Sue = Associated contact on the Opportunity
Email opener reads:
"Hello Joe and Sue,"
-----
Example 2:
Our client is a single woman named Sue Smith.
Sue = Primary contact on the Opportunity
There are no Associated contacts.
Email opener reads:
"Hello Sue,"

We have tried many custom workarounds including custom HTML code Liquid template language with conditional statements written using logic tags, custom fields, and various workflows.
None of them have resulted in the above ideal outcome examples.
