Hideable Custom Fields/Custom Field Folders Instead of "Hide Empty Fields"

I love the hide empty fields option. But it would be way better for agencies to be able to hide custom fields and custom field folders from the contact screen AND the opportunity screen.
I'm thinking of people who use custom values for automation and don't want clients to mess with or see them, information that doesn't matter and is simply meant to be "Easy yeses" on forms, those with multiple pipelines that require different information on the opportunity card in each pipeline, and those who have a ton of folders that are cluttering up the contacts screen.
This would also be helpful in archiving old custom fields and cleaning up the contact screen by putting them into a folder and then hiding the folder so we don't see it in the contact screen.

The side bar is far too cluttered with a well built/automated account! I want to "hide" the folders associated with things like Forms/Surveys that have nothing to do with the "Contact" and store them elsewhere! Also lock them so people without permission can't edit/delete them from this contacts sidebar.

This is very much needed!

wow.. its that long already?
🗂️ Role-Based Contact Field Visibility (Permissions)
👤 Sales reps should see and edit only essential contact fields (e.g., name, phone, email, deal details), but not sensitive fields like 💰 commission, 🏷️ costs, 🔄 automation fields, 🎁 loyalty points, or 💳 credits systems.
👑 Managers/admins have access to all contact fields, including sensitive data and incentive systems, for complete oversight and management.
🔒 Field/folder visibility can be set by user role, keeping UIs uncluttered in CONTACTS module and reducing risk of mistakes (similar to workflow permissions).
🤝 Agencies offering 3rd party access can hide internal or technical fields (automation, credits, loyalty) from clients, while still allowing select access for partners or automation updates.

it would be great to not only hide any field or folder, but also lock them

This is an absolute no-brainer and something that’s seriously overdue. We also can’t have sales touching custom fields that are essential for tracking, commission, and other internal processes. There are so many reasons to make certain custom fields hidden or visible only to specific users. A very simple permission setting for field folders or something would be a simple fix.
