FIRST NAME field can't be blank

I have a lot of imported contact lists where the company details are known, though the contact FIRST NAME and LAST NAME are not known. When I then go and clean-up the data, I'm unable to press SAVE without the FIRST NAME field having data in it.
My workaround is to put a fullstop in the FIRST NAME field so at least I can save the updated company data.

Please change course on this! For many companies, they don't have first names or last names for contacts. But they can't edit the profile data without editing the first name. Very messy!

this is not a good idea. many many times we dont have a first name. its a pain to have to put a dot or character there just to save.

allow first name to be blank. It is time consuming to solve this problem. And needless. If you need a single field to be THE thing causing a contact to be created, then change the software to create a contact number.
