Lessons only unlock when the previous video has been 'Marked as complete' or the Assignment has been submitted/Quiz passed. Essentially, allow each peice of content to have a pre-requisite (which can be the content before)

It does a pre-requisite BUT you have to mark that as complete which is annoying - i'd like the completion of a video to be complete without them needing to click a button
