Manual & Smart Collections for Products
What’s New?
We’re excited to introduce
Manual & Smart Collections
for Stores, giving merchants powerful new ways to group and organize products. Store owners can now choose between Manual Collections
(hand-picked products) or Smart Collections
(rule-based logic).Key Highlights:
- Permanent Collection Type:Once created, a collection’s type (Manual or Smart) cannot be switched.
- Smart Collections (Logic-Based):Products are auto-included or excluded based on rules defined by the merchant (e.g., price, stock, title, or variant). Manual overrides are not allowed.
- Inclusive Product Matching:A product qualifies if any variant or price row matches the saved logic conditions.
- Validation for Rules:Invalid or contradictory rules (e.g., “Price > 100 AND Price < 50”) are blocked with an error message at save.
How to Use It?
- Navigate to the Collections at: Payments > Products dropdown > Collections.
- Click Create Collectionand add details. Choose between Manual or Smart collection type.
- Manual:Search, browse, and select products to add.
- Smart:Define rules using fields like Title, Variant Title, Price, or Inventory.
- Save your collection. Smart collections will auto-update whenever product data changes.
Key Points to Note:
- Manual collections can be edited anytime by adding or removing products.
- Smart collections are fully automated and cannotbe manually overridden.
- Collections may overlap; products can appear in multiple collections if they qualify.
- Empty smart collections (no matching products) are valid and can still be created.
- Smart collections are processed in background, so the products are not updated immediately.
- A product cannot be removed from a smart collection manually, it only gets removed if it doesn't match the condition anymore, or is deleted.
- A new product on creation will automatically be added to the relevant smart conditions.
