Introducing Badges for Communities
Communities can now automatically reward members with badges when they reach important milestones or contribute through posts, comments, reactions, and consistent participation.
Badges make recognition visible across the community and give members clear goals to work toward.
What’s New
- Automatically award badges based on community milestones and engagement.
- Display one selected badge beside a member’s name in the feed, comments, and member list.
- View earned badges and progress toward upcoming badges from the new Badges profile tab.
- Notify members when they earn a badge.
- Send an “almost there” notification when a member reaches 80% of a badge requirement.
- Filter the member list by badge and view the number of active badge holders.
- Refresh engagement badges every quarter to keep recognition timely and meaningful.
Available Badge Types
One-Time Badges
- Group Admin: Awarded when a member becomes a community admin.
- Newbie: Awarded when a member joins the community.
- Founding Member: Awarded to qualifying early members.

These badges refresh quarterly based on member activity:
- Always On: Engage by posting, commenting, or reacting for a set number of consecutive days.
- Top Contributor: Publish a set number of comments.
- Power User: Publish a set number of posts.
- Crowd Favourite: Receive a set number of likes across published posts.
Member Experience
Members can:
- See a badge beside other members’ names throughout the community.
- Track earned badges and progress toward their next achievements.
- Receive notifications when they are close to earning or have earned a badge.
- Choose which earned badge appears beside their name.
Admin Controls
Admins can configure badge automation under Community → Settings → Badges.
For each trigger, admins can:
- Turn automatic awarding on or off.
- Set the required milestone or engagement threshold.
- Choose the badge members will receive.
- Update the associated badge design through Memberships → Credentials.
When a trigger is enabled, existing members who already meet its requirements will also receive the badge.
Get Started
- Go to Community → Settings → Badges.
- Enable the one-time or engagement triggers you want to use.
- Set the qualification threshold and select a badge for each trigger.
- Create or customize badge templates under Memberships → Credentials.
Once configured, qualifying members will be recognized automatically and can choose an earned badge to display from their profile.
