A2P Registration - Identity Verification Required

To further secure the messaging ecosystem, we’ve introduced a real-time identity verification step during A2P registration for users who exhibit certain risk signals — and have now expanded this requirement to all Sole Proprietor (Sole Prop) registrations.

What’s New:

We’ve implemented identity verification in the A2P registration flow to help verify user legitimacy and meet evolving carrier expectations.

Now mandatory for all Sole Prop registrations

Continues to apply to regular A2P users who exhibit risk signals, such as

Public/freemium email domains (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook)
Recently registered custom domains
Disposable or temporary domains

User Journeys & When Verification is Triggered:

1.Regular A2P Registrations (Standard Business / EIN-based):

Trigger Point:

Verification is conditionally triggered during the contact details step of the A2P registration — only if risk signals are detected.

Flow

User enters business + contact info
If flagged, user is prompted to complete a brief identity check
Upon successful verification, user continues with campaign registration
If not flagged, the flow proceeds as usual with no interruption

2.Sole Proprietor Registrations (No EIN):

Trigger Point:

Verification is always triggered at the final step, after business and campaign information has been submitted, and before submission.

Flow:

User completes Sole Prop-specific A2P registration steps
Before final submission, user is prompted to verify their identity
Upon success, submission is completed and campaign is created

What the Verification Step Looks Like :

A live selfie with simple head movements
Upload or capture of a valid government-issued ID
Instant result: Users are returned to the flow immediately upon success
