Our team relies on approval-based workflows within the Opportunities pipeline, where certain stages require a team member’s approval before progressing. One key requirement for us is to track who approved or last modified a record—without needing to manually input their name each time.
Currently, there is no straightforward way to capture the user who last updated a record within automations. This makes it difficult to automate fields such as “Proposal Reviewer” or “Approved By,” and introduces manual steps that are prone to error.
Ideally, we would like the ability to:
  1. Access the “Last Modified By” (user) as a variable within automations
  2. Automatically populate a custom field (e.g., “Approved By”) based on the user who made the update through automation
  3. Trigger workflows based on which user performed the modification
