Currently there is an add on from twilio to verify numbers after the sms has sent. Would be great to integrate a feature that does this prior to the message being sent.

is this for LC phone validation trigger? We need to filter landline phones and SMS phones - both show DND SMS, however landline is system generated NOT customer DND SMS.

You can add a workflow action which will call phone number validation API to verify the number and update the contact with a custom field telling if number is valid or not. You can then send SMS based on this information.
One of our clients is doing this with us and around 10% of all of their numbers were not messaging enabled.
