Issue with "Update Opportunity" action

If an Opportunity triggers an Automation, then surely an "Update Opportunity" action, in that same workflow, should update that same opportunity.
However, that's not what happens.
It doesn't update the opportunity that triggered the automation, it updates the 'most recent' opportunity.
In my business, this is meaning that I can't automate updating opportunities. It will often update the correct one, but sometimes, the most recent opportunity is not the one that needs to change.
I can't see any reason why someone would want a DIFFERENT opportunity to be updated if an 'Update Opportunity' action is inside of a workflow that is triggered by an opportunity change.
Please fix this!

Same issue today. Switched to an opportunity-led workflow instead of an appointment-led one purely because I wanted actions to update the correct opportunity (of multiple), only to find that "Create/Update Opportunity" only updates the most recent opportunity, even if you're in a workflow triggered by an opportunity.
As a wider ask, can we please choose? I have a workflow that is triggered by an opportunity which creates another opportunity - when doing updates, it would be really handy to choose to update:
1) The opportunity that was triggered
2) Opportunities that were created in the workflow (like you do with formatter outputs or google sheet outputs
3) Any other opportunity in the system (given an ID) - this would allow me to update specific opportunities on form submission for example, where the form was to capture info for an opportunity (which has been copied through duplicate fields on the contact..)

This is tremendously frustrating. I feel as though they never considered the possibility of having multiple opportunities for a single contact. It wouldn't be so bad if the API provided a workaround, but the authentication system for v2 just isn't feasible for anyone other than marketplace devs and v1 doesn't allow us to change custom fields. Does anyone have a workaround for this that reliably targets the right opportunity?

Choose Which Opportunity to Update (when there are multiple)

If you have a business who gets repeat customers, it's common to have multiple opportunities within the same pipelines. If a workflow is triggered by changing an opportunity (and there is more than 1 opportunity), it will change the most recent opportunity, which isn't always the opportunity that triggered the workflow. If possible the most desired solution would be to have the ability to choose which opportunity you want the workflow to update (when there is more than 1 in a pipeline).

Has it always been like this? I thought I confirmed in testing that if an opportunity is triggered it updates that opportunity...
Does it depend on trigger? I wonder if some are API based on pipeline and status and others are based on pipeline and opportunity ID.

GradeTransferer - Indigo Grady: Support have confirmed to me that it updates the 'Most Recent' opportunity, and not the one that triggered the automation.
Obviously, they could both be the same opportunity.
The problems occur when they are not!
This feels like a bug to me, rather than a feature request.
But, I assume it will only get fixed if it gets some votes.
