Custom fields as triggers

It would be great to be able to use a custom field updated by the user as a trigger. For example, I'm on the phone and pick a choice from a custom dropdown menu. That choice starts a trigger. Another example. I create an anniversary date custom field that triggers an email or text to wish the contact a happy anniversary.

Could you give a try with "Contact changed" Trigger and choose the custom field in filter?

I was surprised that the ONLY thing to trigger seems to be things like tags and that updating fields can't trigger. This is made things a lot more cumbersome for us when we are putting together automations and workflows. HOPEFULLY they will allow fields being updated in the contacts record (or the Users) to trigger emails/sms/automations.

That wouldn't work for us because we would use the custom fields as something like a future follow up date to start an automation.
Right now the only workaround we've found is to create a daily wait loop in the automation until the filter condition is met.
This is not a good way to do it, and not something that feels stable in the long-term.
Also with this use case, the custom date fields are a pain to use because there is no date picker option when you're in the contact. This would be a huge usability feature adjustment.

Yes we need this, we import the number of attendance of our clients and it would be great if when that figure hit 100 they it trigger a text / email / task etc.
