Calendar updates being sent when marked as Showed

We have Allow Google/Outlook/iCloud Calendar to send invitation and update emails turned on.
However, the contacts get a "ghost" calendar update, when we mark the appointment as Shown, when from their perspective nothing has changed.
Please don't send calendar updates for marking the status as shown/not shown. Only send updates for confirmed/cancelled.

A client wants to be able to mark appts as "Showed" for better tracking. However, when they do that, it updates the Outlook event in some way and causes Outlook to automatically send the event again with the note "so and so updated the event."
This is very confusing for clients who feel like they're getting notifications for event that have happened in the past.
