Two "owners" for same opportunity

It would be great to have one an option of two "owners" for an opportunity?There's case where there will be one user in the beginning stage of pipeline and then it gets assigned to another user in the later stage. But i want the first guy to be in the scheme of things later on. we currently don't have that option

We have launched a feature to add followers to opportunities. Followers have all the access as the owners and can act as secondary owners to the opportunity
Hope that resolves this requirement.
