[Feature Request] Auto-assign current user & limit dropdowns for Tasks/Appointments in Opportunities
E
Endri Dervishi
When a user is inside an Opportunity and creates an appointment or task, they’re required to manually select their own name in the “Team Member” or “Assigned to” dropdown.
If they forget — which happens often in large teams — the event ends up assigned to the wrong person (or left unassigned), leading to confusion, missed tasks, or even appointments landing in the wrong calendar.
❗This issue is critical in industries like real estate, call centers, coaching, and sales teams, where 10–30 users may operate in the same pipeline.
🚫 What doesn’t work:
Some suggest creating one calendar per user to avoid this, but:
It’s unmanageable with dozens of team members
It breaks the logic for automations (e.g. appointment triggers tied to multiple calendars)
It turns calendar management into a nightmare
✅ Suggested solution:
Automatically pre-select the logged-in user in the “Team Member” and “Assigned to” dropdowns inside the Opportunity view.
OR provide an option to limit the dropdown to the current user only, or to filter it based on who owns the contact/opportunity.
💡 Benefits:
Reduces human error
Simplifies the user experience
Keeps automations clean and scalable
No need for “patch” workflows to fix wrong assignments
This would be a huge upgrade for any agency/team using GoHighLevel with more than a handful of users.
