Create opportunity in custom object workflow

We can currently associate a custom object with an opportunity but that opportunity would have to be created elsewhere. It would be ideal to be able to create an opportunity right from a custom object workflow and associate them together.

We currently have a Custom Object workflow that "to work" unfortunately needs to extract the associated contact and then pass that contact to a second workflow to create an opportunity, but we are then stuck with not being able to associate the custom object to the opportunity. Being able to complete this seamlessly in one workflow would be exceptional.
