We greatly appreciate the semi-recent addition of permission-based locking for automations, which allows workflow folders to be restricted so that only approved users can view or edit them. This has been extremely helpful in protecting critical automations from accidental or unauthorized changes.
We would love to see this same functionality extended to email templates, particularly those used within automations.
The request:
Add the ability to lock email templates (or email template folders) using permissions, so that only specific users are allowed to view and/or edit them.
Why this matters:
Email templates used in automations often contain carefully approved messaging, branding, compliance language, and timing. Currently, any user with general email access can update these templates, which creates a risk of:
• Accidental edits to approved content|
• Inconsistent messaging going out to customers
• Intentional but unauthorized changes
• Broken automations due to altered templates
Being able to restrict access would significantly reduce these risks and provide better content governance, especially for agencies managing multiple clients or teams.
Suggested behavior:
• Permission-based locking at the email template or folder level
• Ability to designate specific users (or roles) who can edit locked templates
• Other users can still use the templates in automations without being able to modify them
This would align perfectly with the existing automation folder permissions and make content management much safer and more scalable.
Thank you for considering this enhancement — it would be a powerful addition for teams focused on consistency, compliance, and quality control.
