Allow Selective Discount Application to Specific Products in Documents, Proposals, and Invoices

Currently, when applying a discount inside Documents, Proposals, or Invoices, the discount is applied to the entire transaction total without the ability to specify which product(s) it affects.
This limitation creates challenges for agencies and businesses that:
Offer bundled packages but want to discount only specific items
Run targeted promotions (e.g., “$100 off onboarding fee” but not monthly services)
Provide tiered or partial discounts based on product type or value
We propose the ability to assign discounts at the individual product level in all areas where discounts are supported, including:
📝 Documents & Proposals
When building out a proposal, allow users to check which line items the discount applies to
Option to apply a flat or percentage discount to one or more specific products
📄 Invoices
On both one-time and recurring invoices, let users apply discounts to selected line items only
Avoid confusion or over-discounting when clients purchase a combination of services or products
💳 Across All Discount-Capable Areas
Maintain flexibility to still apply discounts to the total if desired
Ensure that discount logic is clear and visible on the client-facing invoice/proposal, showing which product(s) received a discount and why
Why This Matters:
Not all discounts apply universally. Today’s lack of item-specific discount targeting leads to workarounds like:
Creating multiple invoices
Adding negative line items
Manually calculating and adjusting pricing
These solutions are clunky and error-prone. By allowing selective discounting per product, GHL users will benefit from:
Cleaner workflows
More accurate billing
Greater pricing flexibility in both SaaS and service models
A more professional client experience

Agreed. For us, this creates a problem where tax is applied to the original price of the product, rather than the discounted price for that particular product. We need tax to be applied to the discounted price of that product only.
