When you associate a custom object to another custom object you can link them together. For example, we have a custom object called "Files" to store our files. Our primary custom object is "Real Estate Transactions" where the transaction is tracked. When you're in the "Real Estate Transactions" front end view and adding a file to the transaction, you can only lookup existing files. We would like the ability to add a new file to the "Files" custom object right from the "Real Estate Transactions" custom object front end screen.
