Decouple Smart BCC from 2-Way Sync for Selective Logging
J
Jen Neumann
Currently, the Smart BCC feature is only active when 2-way email sync is enabled. For Agency Admins and high-level users (HR, Legal, Non-profits), this creates a significant privacy risk because enabling 2-way sync exposes all sensitive emails to every Admin in the sub-account.
The Problem: Users often need to log specific client interactions from external mail clients (like Mac Mail or Outlook) without syncing their entire inbox. However, when 2-way sync is turned off to protect personal/sensitive data, the Smart BCC address disappears or fails to authenticate the sender.
Requested Solution:
Independent Smart BCC: Allow the Smart BCC feature to function even if 2-way sync is disabled for a user.
Authenticated Senders List: Allow users to "vouch" for specific external email addresses that are authorized to push logs via BCC to that sub-account, regardless of sync status.
Selective Syncing: Provide a way to manually "push" a thread from a synced inbox to a contact record, rather than the current "all-or-nothing" automatic tracking.
Why this matters: This is a major friction point for professional service providers and agencies that require admin-level access but handle sensitive communications. Solving this would make GHL a viable solution for organizations with strict data privacy requirements.

To the High Level team: Please move forward with the "Independent Smart BCC" feature as described by Jen Neumann, above.
My current solution: I continue to use HubSpot + High Level concurrently because HubSpot has the Independent Smart BCC feature, while High Level does not.
Forcing users to enable 2-way sync is a breach of security, and an example of bad software hygiene. Please make this improvement. Thank you!
