Bulk Edit Contacts

I would like to be able to edit a contact field that belongs to a group of contacts at one time. For example, if I filter my contacts to all contacts who have a zip code = "40207" that may be 200 contacts. I now want to be able to change their "City" field to "Louisville" in one fell swoop. I cannot seem to accomplish this right now which is driving me batty and will require me to edit each contact individually OR do it in Excel and then re-import the contacts. Blech :-D

It would be extremely helpful if GHL could provide a bulk or batch API for updating contacts. Something like accepting an array of objects such as:
[
{ contact_id: 123, custom_field_1: "xyz" },
{ contact_id: 456, custom_field_1: "abc" }
]
This would significantly reduce the number of API calls required and help integrations handle large datasets more efficiently.
Additionally, having a bulk/batch endpoint for removing tags from multiple contacts would be equally valuable.
Both of these capabilities would greatly improve performance and reduce rate-limit issues for integration partners and users working with large lists.

It's bizarre that this doesn't exist already. For the people saying to use a workflow- does that really seem like a good answer? It's a workaround for a feature that should already exist, yes, but it's a lot of steps for something that should be able to be done quickly and simply right on the Smart Lists page.

You can create a Workflow that performs whatever actions you want (for example: this action) and you don't put any triggers on it.
Then in the contacts view, apply the filters you want. Once the contacts are selected, select “Add to automation”
If the contact filters are not enough, you can include in the automation any conditionals you want using “If” to be applied with that criteria.
I hope this works for you

This should be possible. I was surprised it wasn't. Current workaround is to create a Workflow Automation and bulk add contacts to it or export and re-import a CSV to update the contact fields. Hubspot lets you edit any records in bulk: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/bulk-edit-records
Ideally, you could select contacts in HighLevel, click "Bulk Edit" then be redirected to a page where all contact fields/values could be shown, including a UI with Add Tag/Remove Tag, and you can modify any or all fields and click done to add to Bulk Actions.

When is this happening!? we were told in december 2024 that Q1 we were going to see updates on the Contact screen with bulk edit, etc. Why is it about to be Q2 and nothing is happening on this front?

Would love the ability to bulk edit contacts in more of a grid - for example, each field of the contact would show in a box that appears as a text box that is editable (first name, last name, phone, etc.) - Example Reason: many people put both their first and last name into the first name box and with tens of thousands of contacts, opening each individual contact to fix would take literal months. If it appeared in a grid I could edit and save as it goes all within that page...months saved.

We need this ability ASAP. Yes this is possible through workflows, but this isn't a good solution for agency owners. Many customers will not be adept in using/creating workflows, and therefore will not be able to do this well.
There should be a simple button for this on the contact page. Select the contacts, click the button, choose the custom field to be updated, input your change, click save, done. It should be this simple. It's been over 4 years. This needs to be escalated to higher priority. Pallavi Kothari
