Parent and sub-page level linking in website builder. SEO Must Have
R
Robert Paugh
As a web developer I want to be able to build sub-pages/link paths on my website so that we can build proper sitemaps. For example, if we have a service page like site.com/service then we should be able to have pages under that like /service/web-design or even service/city-state, etc. It's pretty basic functionality and I don't know of a page builder or CMS that doesn't have it.

I am flabbergasted that this doesn't exist

Gerhard Laubscher right? LONG overdue.

This is 100% needed and long overdue. This is fundamental to site architecture and a core technical SEO item. Come on HL team, this was posted in 2022!

Definitely needed - this is one of the few things holding me back from migrating my entire site over!

disappointing to find out that numbers are added to the end of a URL, when you create a new page
if you try to remove the numbers and save, it closes like it worked, but if you check again they just add new numbers
SO now on Google your page is going to 404, not found.
Support's answer is to redirect the 404 page to the homepage ;(
useless this "sites" feature
back to WordPress I go

Add multilevel (subdirectory) pages and/or redirects
Trevor Tovsen
For example you are deploying a new website, there may be existing pages on a multilevel subdirectory that SEO and legacy marketing content contain. It would be nice to either use those subdirectories or be able to redirect them so people don't continue to receive 404 errors.
Example of multi-level subdirectory: domain.com/services/service

Warning: As of writing do not use Sites > Websites if you plan to have basic SEO features.
- No multilevel redirects (url redirects cant redirect a sub page like /services/service-one/, so most 404 indexed errors you will not be able to solve.
- Pages don't automatically get added to the XML Sitemap, this is manually every time you create a new page.
- You cant have parent / child pages or any kind of site silo organization.
- Blog Posts are not even added to the XML Sitemap at all, I guess I have the option to do this in a very very manual approach, one at a time in Domains > XML Sitemap.
My Team learned and pushed through the buggy gimmick that is the website builder both before and after the new css layouts, how this is not a warning or labeled BETA and BLOG labeled BETA is beyond me.. NEW must mean ALPHA.
We have to rebuild 20+ pages after realizing at launch all the "features" that are present don't actually work, and there is zero workaround that are basic on Wordpress for 15 years.
Really dissapointed, in 2021 Shaun said these were about to launch on another "Idea" here on Canny.

Can't believe this is being ignored, so basic, stop advertising the URL Redirects and Website builder to marketers, this is a huge miss in most circumstances unless you are starting an absolutely clean new business online, which is seldom the case.
