I was astonished to find out that this didn't already exist. Mind boggling!

No brainer for sure. Would be amazing to be able to track clicks and add tags based on those clicks.

You can do this by using a trigger link url in your button. Create the trigger link URL in email builder and then copy that to your button.

Norman Elevencione: interesting! how does this work if someone isn't identified on the page, and we don't which contact to trigger workflows for?
N
Norman Elevencione
Michael Walker: If contact already exist in your CRM this will work but if it doesn't exist yet this will not work.
I tried it and so far this technique works for me. It's just a little bit more work though... If GHL can just automatically do this then everybody is happy.

Norman Elevencione: ok gotcha, thanks! it would definitely be helpful if it defaults to just the URL if the contact doesn't exist.

Norman Elevencione: when I emailed the link to myself it became attached to my contact so my automation was when trigger linked clicked move them to a new stage in pipeline and it created a card for me & moved me in the pipeline vs the person that clicked it. Did i miss something?

Norman Elevencione
Collen McCartney: Think the triggerlink is unique for each contact... The trigger link you sent to your email will only work for you but not for other contacts... Let me double check on this.. if this is the case then, we might need to find another way to make the trigger link work for all contacts inside funnels

Norman Elevencione: yes it would be extremely helpful. We built an onboarding funnel and having a trigger link as a button they click would make it a zillion times easier. This way they click a button for ‘I need help’ & it triggers actions, same as ‘done’ would move them to the next stage in a pipeline. We MSW it work but this would be a LOT cleaned/easier.

Norman Elevencione: What do you mean by this? I've tried to generate the trigger link url in an email and then copy/paste it into the button in a funnel, but the button ends up being broken and won't open the url inside the trigger link. How does this work?

I'd like this in funnels and websites.
I have a lot of automation flows I'd like to trigger with a simple button click

+1 we are needing this too.
All of the reasons that we need Trigger Links in the first place are the reasons we need this on Funnels as well.
Here are just a few examples:
- Abandon cart sequences
- Conversion Tracking
- Unsubscribe buttons
One hang up is that we'd need to have an identified contact on the Funnel Pages in order to track them / trigger a Workflow.
But if we don't know who the contact is (eg. they haven't filled out an Opt In Form yet), then we either we could:
1.) Default to the destination URL from the Trigger Link and don't trigger any workflows.
2.) Add a default redirect page with a form submission in order to identify who the contact is before sending them to the destination URL.

Be good if we could have it anywhere in the website / form builder that accepts a URL. So in addition to buttons, even clicking on images.
