Additionally, I’d like to be able to add way more Company specific custom fields and allow a form to be used to update Company contact fields, instead of a specific contact only.

Contacts are connected / linked to the Company, but I need to have the flexibility to add /edit more information related to a specific Company, and not tie Company details to a Contact (or multiple Contacts).
